Wharf Raw Fish Restaurant, located on Manho-ro in Mokpo, specializes in gizzard shad hoe-muchim. They catch and freeze large quantities of gizzard shad during its peak season in May, serving it mixed with rice in a large bowl for an exquisite taste.
Mokpo Modern History Museum Building 1
The oldest building in Mokpo, it was constructed in 1900 to serve as the Japanese Consulate following the opening of Mokpo Port. After a long history of serving as various administrative offices, including Mokpo City Hall, it was restored and reopened as Mokpo Modern History Museum Building 1 in 2014.
Mokpo Skywalk
Below Mokpo Skywalk, a lively beach promenade draws visitors enjoying simple meals, coffee, and beer with scenic ocean views. Nearby, the Samhakdo area adds to the allure with numerous romantic food stalls and an impressive extra-large tourist cruise ship.
Mokpo Modern History Museum Building 2
Built in June 1920, the building was originally the Mokpo branch of the Oriental Development Company and features a modern Western architectural style. Dream to Hold features a souvenir shop and cafe on its first floor, with a DIY workshop on the second floor where visitors can enjoy experiences like making handmade soap. Gatbawi Culture Town
As Mokpo’s cultural and artistic hub, Gatbawi Culture Town provides a space to experience the city’s art and history, also celebrated for its splendid nighttime scenery along a popular drive course. Situated beneath Ippamsan Mountain, it hosts institutions like the National Research Institute of Maritime Cultural Heritage, Natural History Museum, and Mokpo Literary Museum, offering a full day of cultural immersion.
Dancing Sea Fountain

Gohado Observatory
Gohado Observatory is built on Gohado Island, where Admiral Yi Sun-sin regrouped after his victory in the Battle of Myeongnyang, uniquely featuring 13 models of Panokseon warships stacked in a grid. Popular for its beautiful seascape views, it serves as an educational and viewing facility honoring Admiral Yi’s spirit, with a rest area on the first floor and exhibition spaces and observation decks on the upper floors.
